The scripture for today is 1 Corinthians 13:2

1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.

The true value in life, as God sees it, is presented in 1 Corinthians 13. All of the attributes that we could possess are meaningless without love. This puts everything in proper perspective.

The world’s way of perceiving and doing things is in complete opposition to God’s way of doing things.  For the child of God, the love of God is the motivation for everything. The love of God is not necessarily a feeling; it transcends emotions and raises us up to a place in God that lives in harmony with His character. It is the single most important component of our lives and from it, all of the rest of life flows. If love is diminished or not present, our lives are diminished and ineffective for God’s kingdom. All of the qualities of God spring from the love imperative. Everything that is Godly is rooted and grounded in love. If it is not, it is not from God at all.

The word 'love' is used in the English language to communicate many different things. The same word can mean anything from food preferences, “I love pizza,” to feelings toward another person, “I love my children.” In the Bible, different Greek words are translated into our one English word "love," but in the Greek language, which the New Testament was written in, there are different kinds of love that our English language does not express. The word used for 'love' in 1 Corinthians 13 is the Greek word 'agape'. It identifies the love that comes from God. It is in fact only found in God and He alone is the source of it. It appears 106 times in the New Testament and it conveys that the very presence of God is in the life of the one who has this love. A good understanding of the importance of agape in our lives can be gained through reading 1 Corinthians 13 daily.

“And above all these things put on love (agape), which is the bond of perfection.” Colossians 3:14 Love makes us complete, but without it “I am nothing.”

God bless you as you continue in His service.
