The scripture for today is 1 Corinthians 3:2

1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food: for until now you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are you able.

In writing these words to the Corinthian church, the apostle Paul was reprimanding them for their lack of growth in Christian love, understanding, and devotion to Christ. He further told them, "For you are yet carnal: for while there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?" 1 Corinthians 3:3  You see, it is not possible to grow in our Christian walk with a carnal mind.  "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Romans 8:7

Paul, however, does not give up on his beloved church. He continues to love them and minister the Word of God to them. In spite of issues and problems, God will not let His church go unwarned and uncorrected down a path of defeat and death. No matter what the struggle, it is imperative that we keep our hearts open to the voice of God's Word. While the church at Corinth had its share of problems, they had teachable hearts. They paid attention to the instructions given by God through His apostle and they responded with commitment and zeal. In his second letter to them the apostle Paul writes, "For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not regret, though I did regret: for I perceive that the same epistle has made you sorry, though it were but for a time. Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance: for you were made sorry after a godly manner, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing. For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be regretted: but the sorrow of the world works death." 2 Corinthians 7:8-10

Irrespective of where you happen to be on the road to heaven, the important thing is not how much progress you have made; the important thing is that you stay on the right road. If we remain on the narrow way, Christ will lead us home. Yes, we might need milk from time to time; yes, it might seem as if we are bearing no fruit, but keep looking and remain faithful. "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9  Due season always comes.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
