1 Peter 4:19
The scripture for today is 1 Peter 4:19
1 Peter 4:19 Therefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
During times of trials, and there are many, it is easy to focus on the circumstances and overlook the providence of God. Irrespective of the conditions around us, or things that happen to us, God is in control. He, and He alone, controls the destiny of His beloved. Christ is our example and His example is the only perfect path to right relationship with God. When the world persecutes the truth, it is not us who are being attacked; God's love is what is under attack. But, even in the midst of suffering, love is never extinguished. Love illuminates the world with the light of God shining through His truth.
It is the presence of God that Satan hates and he tries with every weapon of persecution at his disposal to shut off the light of God's truth that is shining through His people. But the trials and false accusations that are heaped upon the children of God are never powerful enough to stop the flow of God's grace. His grace is empowering grace, it is enabling grace, it is truly amazing grace. When we feel that we can stand no longer, God's grace will hold us up. When the world is against us, God's grace is more than sufficient to sustain us. Nothing happens to any of us that God does not see and all that He allows to come upon us works ultimately for our good and the good of those He sends us to reach. He will not abandon us in our time of need. We are emboldened to stand stronger in the Lord as His grace is imparted to us. Conditions around us may change but our position in Him does not change. "The only way to keep the soul well is to commit it to God by prayer, and patient perseverance in well-doing. He will overrule all to the final advantage of the believer." Matthew Henry
