1 Thessalonians 5:5
The scripture for today is 1 Thessalonians 5:5
1 Thessalonians 5:5 You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
God has placed something special in the hearts of His children; His Spirit lives there. His presence in the heart is the assurance that we belong to Him. As the offspring of our Heavenly Father, we too reflect the light and character of God, "God is light and in Him is no darkness at all." I John 1:5 While the world staggers as if in a drunken stupor, the children of God adhere to His Word and walk the narrow path of holiness. We welcome the bright light of truth to shine upon our lives and deeds. We have embraced the cross of Christ and the old life of sin has been crucified with Him. "For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." Colossians 3:3 Instead of darkness we cling to the light; that is the place where God provides clarity for our walk with Him and exposes evil. Our desire is that any darkness that lingers in our experience be exposed by the light of the Spirit of Truth. We see that the time is at hand and that our Lord and Savior is soon to return to gather to Himself those who died with Him and by His grace now live through Him.
Those who live in darkness cannot discern the times that we are living in. The only hope for them is that God's children persevere in their stand for righteousness and allow the light of Christ to shine through them. It is not enough for us to have the light; we must also extend the light to those who are in darkness. The light of Christ must be offered even to those who appear to not want to receive it. We trust the power of God to break through the strongest barriers of sin and rescue the ones who are hopelessly trapped there. "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19:10 God has given us His light not so that we can be members of the "light club." He has given us His light so that the world which is languishing in darkness can be illuminated by the message of salvation through the lives and testimonies of His children. Yes, we have the assurance of the soon coming of Christ and our deliverance from this world of sin and death. We, however, are not satisfied with that alone; we want everyone, yes everyone, to receive this light as well. The only way that many will see God is by seeing Him living in us. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
God bless you as you continue in His service.
