1 Timothy 1:5
The scripture for today is 1 Timothy 1:5
1 Timothy 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.
“Paul’s charge (1 Tim. 1:3) to Timothy originated in love and was given to engender a spirit of love in the hearts of the church members at Ephesus. The result of unprofitable debates on myths and endless genealogies was not love, but contention and faction…Love proceeds only from pure, undivided hearts, good consciences, and loyal faith, not from worthless speculations, which produce only more “questions” (v. 4). Love alone will unify church members and reveal Christ to the world.” The SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 7, p. 228
The way to know that we are truly His is by the presence of His love residing in our hearts. If the love of God does not exist in the heart, God is not residing there. If God is not residing there, you do not belong to Him. Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.” John 13:35 Love is the standard for everything Christ-like. If love is not the substance of a thing, it does not emanate from Jesus.
The church at Ephesus had people in it with “lack of love issues.” The church today is confronted with the same spirit intruding into our midst. “The great things required of us are love to God and to men, confidence in Him, and conscientious devotion to His will.” Family Bible Notes
When we love God with all of our hearts and are surrendered completely to His will, not trying to push our own agendas, the world will see the power of God radiating from His church; the undeniable presence of Almighty God! God is love and there is no greater force. He desires that His love flow through His church, pushing back the darkness, and shining the light of Jesus Christ into a world that desperately needs Him. With hearts that are surrendered to our Creator and Redeemer, we can be such a people. He, through His love, has given His all; let us, through His love, give our all.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
