2 Corinthians 3_18
October 7
Happy Sunday Everyone,
The scripture for today is 2 Corinthians 3:18
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
The Israelites were not able to look upon the face of Moses when he descended from the presence of God for it shone brightly with the glory of the Lord. In order to be in their presence and communicate with them, Moses placed a veil over his face to cover the brightness of the Lord's glory. In Christ the veil that covers is taken away and we, unlike the Israelites of old, can see His glory and by beholding we are changed into the image of that glory. We can see His glory clearly reflected as if we were looking at an image in a mirror. It is not distorted or misrepresented; it is the same glory as if the Lord Himself was looking back at us. We behold that glory through the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Word of God. In His word the reflection of His glory shines brightly to those who look intently into it and behold it. The power of God is imparted through the word of God. That power changes those who embrace the word into the very image of Christ, the living Word. Step by step and day by day, the life of the beholder changes into the reflection of Christ, the glory of God.
The power to change resides in the choice to behold. The choice of what we behold is ours, but what we become is determined by that choice. When we embrace the glory of the Lord through His word we are making the choice to be like Christ. Any substitute for that embrace changes us into the image of the substitute. The glory of God is revealed more powerfully through Christ than through Moses and it is that glory to which we have unfettered access through His word and Spirit.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
