2 Corinthians 5:1
The scripture for today is 2 Corinthians 5:1
2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
When God created man, He made a body (an extremely complex and complicated body) out of the dust of the ground. But man was not alive until God breathed into him the breath of life. When the breath of life from God was breathed into that newly constructed body, "man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7 God did not breathe into him a soul, He breathed into him the breath of life, and when the breath of life and the body were joined together, man became a living soul. The body plus the breath of life equals a living soul.
The great misunderstanding today among many Christians is that man is a living soul apart from the body. Apart from the body, man is dead; he is not alive. At death, the breath, (which is also called spirit in scripture) returns to God and the body returns to the earth. The sinful flesh decomposes and we will not have to be concerned about it again. But God has promised us a new body, a heavenly body, and when we are either resurrected or changed “in the twinkling of an eye,” the breath of life from God will once again be joined with a new heavenly body that is free from sin. The living soul that God created is recreated to live with Him for all eternity. We will no longer have a "tent," but "a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
May we stand with God today so that we can live with Him throughout eternity.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
