2 Samuel 22_4
September 13
Happy Thursday Everyone,
The scripture for today is 2 Samuel 22:4
2 Samuel 22:4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.
After a time of hard trials, King David praises the Lord for His deliverance in this passage from 2 Samuel 22 which is the same as Psalm 18. David, having been confronted by enemies and King Saul's attempts to take his life, experiences God's hand of deliverance. During his ordeal, David never surrendered his faith in God, even when death was only a step away. He realized that although he was not strong enough to overcome the enemies that confronted him, God was. "He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me." 2 Samuel 22:18
As we look into the accounts of God's care for those who trust in Him we can be assured of this; God never changes and He never fails. God loves us no less than He loved the patriarchs of old or any of those in scripture who experienced God's divine hand of deliverance. We are all His children and His care for us remains the same. Even when we are in places where there seem to be no way out and the darkness around us is foreboding, we can say with David "For you are my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will enlighten my darkness." 2 Samuel 22:29
God's instructs His children to never be afraid, even in the face of reproach and opposition; "Hearken unto me, you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear you not the reproach of men, neither be you afraid of their revilings." Isaiah 51:7If we are God's children and believe that we are in His hands, what do we have to fear? If it is God's will that we die, we gladly accept it. If it is not God's will that we die, nothing can kill us. Once we have come to this place of complete trust in God, there is nothing that the enemy can do to impose his will upon us through fear. Our lives are not in the hands of men; our lives are in the hands of God. Everything that we have, are, or can be is found in God. Apart from Him we desire nothing; His will is our delight. Enemies and opposition are not our problem. We choose to let God handle those things; they are not a problem to Him at all. In this we rejoice; knowing that our Father who loves us is in charge of our lives. Therefore, we can say with David and all those who put their trust in Him, "I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies."
God bless you as you continue in His service.
