Colossians 3:3
The scripture for today is Colossians 3:3
Colossians 3:3 For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
The great dichotomy of the Christian life is that it is a life that is at once both dead and alive. It is dead to sin and its consequences but alive to God's righteousness. In the Christian, the old life of sin has been eternally destroyed. When Jesus died on the cross, we died with Him. The old man of sin no longer rules in our lives; we have a brand new life in Jesus Christ! "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 This is a Bible truth; it is a spiritual reality. Often people base the truth of God's Word on their perceptions and feelings. God's Word is true whether you feel it or not or whether you agree with it or not. In His Word we can clearly see that God has already judged sin and has deemed it worthy of eternal annihilation. The judgment against sin was in place at creation for He told Adam in the Garden, in reference to the forbidden fruit, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die." Genesis 2:17 So the wages of sin, transgressing God's commands, was death from the beginning. That death is an eternal death; it removes sin and sinners from God's creation forever.
The good news is that God has already dealt with the sin problem. Sin has been judged and the judgment against sin has been executed in Christ. He offered His eternal life for sin which He never committed. God accepted His sacrifice and raised Him from the dead. Those who love God will come to Christ, embrace His cross, and accept His death as their own. God established this wonderful plan of salvation before the foundation of the world. Now, instead of death, He offers us new life through Jesus Christ. Jesus said "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that hears my word, and believes on Him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." John 5:24 Those who come to Christ will enjoy a life that is "hid with Christ in God;" not only in this life but throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. That is an offer that no one should refuse.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
