Deuteronomy 10:14
Deuteronomy 10:14 Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it.
When we consider the “heaven and the highest heavens” it is an endless space filled with all manner of created things; heavenly bodies beyond our ability to count or measure. They belong to God because He created them. They were made for His good pleasure. He created the earth which, by comparison to many things beyond earth, is quite small. But on this small speck of a planet, He placed man whom He created in His own image. He gave man dominion over the earth, but He did not give him dominion over the heavens. The creative power of God and His unlimited intelligence are reflected in the things He created, both in outer space and inner space where uncharted systems and structures exist.
God placed us on this planet for His glory; the power of His Spirit is demonstrated here more powerfully than any other place in creation; not the sun or the countless galaxies in outer space, but on earth God has shown to the universe the power of His love. God did not abandon mankind, who was to be the living expression of God’s image, even though he deserved to be because of sin. God did what only a loving and all-powerful God could. He, through His Son, became a man and redeemed us back to Himself even when it seemed that the entire planet was lost. God asks us to now, in light of who He is and what He has done, to follow Him, believing that He has our best interests in mind. To the nation of Israel, in the verses that precede our text for today, God said; "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?” Deuteronomy 10:12-13 God’s requirements are always for our good.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
