The scripture for today is Ecclesiastes 9:18

Ecclesiastes 9:18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good.

Sin does not present itself as the agent of destruction. Often it presents itself as just the opposite; pleasurable, fun, attractive, interesting, and even religious. Unfortunately, for those who are ensnared by it, those initial qualities are only facades that soon turn into unpleasantness. "Sin acts like a ferment; whatever comes in contact with it, it assimilates to itself." Adam Clarke

"There is no safety for any man, young or old unless he feels the necessity of seeking God for counsel at every step. Those only who maintain close communion with God will learn to place His estimate upon men, to reverence the pure, the good, the humble, and the meek. The heart must be garrisoned as was that of Joseph. Then temptations to depart from integrity will be met with decision: "How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" The strongest temptation is no excuse for sin. No matter how severe the pressure brought to bear upon you, sin is your own act. The seat of the difficulty is the unrenewed heart." Ellen G. White, The Adventist Home p. 331

With renewed hearts, we can face the enemy of our souls and the temptations that he presents.  We do not have to face him in our own strength.  We have with us Jesus Christ who is wisdom.  It is His wisdom that is "better than weapons of war," and through the impartation of His wisdom, we have the strength to overcome every trial.

His wisdom is available to those who ask in faith.  "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally, and reproaches not; and it shall be given him.  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." James 1:5

We are never alone.  God is with us and He is attentive to our prayers of faith.  As we humble ourselves before Him in prayer, we are choosing wisdom (deliverance) over sin (destruction).

God bless you as you continue in His service.
