Happy Thursday Everyone,

The scripture for today is Exodus 16:12

Exodus 16:12  I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, at evening you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God.

It seems incredible that the same people who had experienced the powerful deliverance of God through the plagues in Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea and the manifestation of God's presence through the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire could at this point in their journey murmur against God. They were upset because they did not think that they would have enough to eat. Imagine that!  Would God who brought about the most powerful deliverance imaginable and worked miracles before their eyes let them starve in the wilderness or die of thirst? This is irrational thinking. They had taken their eyes off of the God who had demonstrated His love and power on their behalf and placed them on themselves and their desires.  Yet, because of His great love for them, God continued to meet their needs and ultimately brought the descendants of this group into the Promised Land.

God's dealing with the children of Israel in the wilderness mirrors His dealing with the church today. We are so much like them. Too often our focus is on our desires rather than God's will. We have experienced God's deliverance in our lives in the past but, too readily, we question His power to deliver us from current circumstances. We seem to forget that God really does love us and will never leave us or forsake us. Because of His great love for us He will always cause things to work together for our good. He only requires that we love and trust Him in return. When everything else fails, we can trust our God; He never fails. Setbacks are only temporary; there is victory in Jesus... always.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
