The scripture for today is Galatians 3:28

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Jesus Christ came to this world to redeem all mankind. He did not make exceptions. Salvation was not extended to one group and denied to another; all are accepted into the beloved as children of God through Christ Jesus. To gain a better understanding of our text today let us read it in context: “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:26-29 The last verse is the main point of the passage. “If you are Christ’s then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” That includes everyone, regardless of your station in life, gender or ethnicity.

Unfortunately, this verse has been misused to change the meaning into something that is not at all being addressed. It does not say or mean that everyone is “the same” but that everyone is “one in Christ Jesus.” There is a big difference between those two. A husband and wife are not “the same” but they are “one.”  The point of the text is that in Christ we have all been baptized into one body, and a body, while it has many parts and members and those parts and members have distinct functions and assignments, are all in the same body. So also is Christ.

In the reading of our text, it does not imply that Jews become Greeks or that Greeks become Jews. Men do not become women and slaves do not become masters. It does say explicitly that whatever our station in life, whatever our natural condition, when we are baptized into Christ, we have put on Christ. In Christ, our natural distinctions are not what identify us; what identifies us is that we are Christians, children of God. Our natural distinctions do not disappear; they become subordinate to that which sets us apart as children of God. We are all heirs of the promise and in Christ Jesus, there is no distinction as to who inherits what for we are all “joint heirs with Christ.” Romans 8:17

God bless you as you continue in His service.
