The scripture for today is Genesis 2:3

Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.

At creation, God made all that we see and more, in six literal days. We can only imagine the grandeur displayed as the universe came into being by the Word of God. The depth of His creative power is without limit.  It, like God Himself, is infinite. The multiplied millions of varieties of plant, animal and aquatic life, some of which has not yet been seen, testifies of the vastness of God's creative power. He worked His creative design to perfection and crowned it with His masterpiece of creation, man. Looking out upon all that He had done, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." Genesis 1:31 But God was not quite finished. Lastly, He rested on the seventh day. He rested, not because He was tired. He rested so as to create His gift to man, the Sabbath. Considering that man and woman were created on the sixth day, their first full day of life was spent resting with God, enjoying fellowship with Him on the Sabbath. This began the relationship that God wanted man to enjoy with Him, recognizing that God was the Creator of all things, honoring Him and resting in His presence.

God blessed and sanctified the seventh day and gave it as a gift to man. When God gave the moral law, His Ten Commandments, He reminded His people to remember what He had done so that they would never forget that He was the creator and would honor Him by keeping the symbol of His creation holy.  The very day that He rested on, blessed and sanctified, was not for Himself, but for us. It is the memorial of His creation and it is the reminder that God alone should be worshiped for it is He who created, blessed and sanctified this holy day.

Satan hates the Sabbath. He hates it because it reminds man that God alone is the Creator. It is by the power of God that the worlds were made and by the same power all life exists. It is a sign that God alone should be worshiped; He alone is deserving of our worship. Satan wants the worship which belongs to God. He rose up in rebellion against God in heaven. His rebellion and rejection of God caused Him to be cast out of heaven. He came to earth with the same agenda that caused him to be cast out of heaven; he wants to be worshiped. He has worked his deceptions throughout human history trying to achieve his goal, trying to replace God in the hearts and minds of people. He has even gotten most people to reject the very day that God blessed and sanctified at creation. Even Christians who claim to be lovers of God and followers of Christ will tell you that the day that God created, blessed and sanctified just doesn't matter. "Christ has done away with it," they will say. The do not realize that they are merely repeating the deceptive words of Satan himself. Satan has influenced the religious world to change the day that God created and blessed to another day, a day that he originally had influenced the pagans to use as a day of worship of the sun. Sunday is not the Lord's Day; nowhere in God's Word does it say that. The Sabbath of creation is the only Lord's Day identified in the Bible. It is the only day that God Himself blessed, sanctified and made holy. This issue will ultimately divide the world. In the last days we will either stand for God and His Word or follow Satan's counterfeit. "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

God bless you as you continue in His service.
