Hebrews 6:10
The scripture for today is Hebrews 6:10
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
God records our deeds of charity and they are never forgotten by Him. He promises in His Word to reward those who bless His servants. "And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward." Matthew 10:42 Every good work that is done for the servants of God is an expression of faith in God and love for His children. With love as the motive, the good deeds become the outward expression of the life of God in the giver. "God is only bound to men by His own promise: this promise He is not obliged to make; but, when once made, His righteousness or justice requires Him to keep it; therefore, whatever He has promised He will certainly perform...He has promised to reward every good work and labor of love, and He will surely reward yours; God's promise is God's debt. Every good work must spring from faith in the name, being, and goodness of God; and every work that is truly good must have love for its motive, as it has God for its end." Adam Clarke
Each one of us is engaged in a common cause to uplift Christ before the world and to live a life that testifies to the defeat of Satan at the cross. Our heavenly Father has given us His Spirit and He, the Spirit of truth, directs us to good works on behalf of the Father. These are not our works; they do not originate with us. They are directed by the Holy Spirit which lives within us. "For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure." Philippians 2:13 As we surrender our lives to God, He directs us into the kind of behavior that glorifies Him. We live lives that testify of the presence of Christ within, lives that reflect the love of God. As we live our lives in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we naturally engage in what our text today calls "work and labor of love." We count it a privilege and joy to minister to the saints. God is directing; He is watching, and He will not forget your works of love and obedience. "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9
God bless you as you continue in His service.
