Isaiah 2:5
The scripture for today is Isaiah 2:5
Isaiah 2:5 O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
God’s messengers, throughout the ages, have proclaimed the need and issued the call for God's people to follow Him and Him alone. The desire of every child of God will be to walk in the light that He gives. For many His word has been ignored and instead of following the path of righteousness, God’s people have gone after the ways of the world. But God does not give up. Instead of abandoning us in our rejection and transgressions, He sends His word to call us back to Himself.
If you have strayed from the path that is illuminated by His word, that path is still there. It is shining brightly, calling you back to it. It does not matter how far you have strayed; God is still calling you. His love is not abated, His compassion has not ceased. He is where He has been all of the time; waiting patiently for us to heed the voice of His Spirit and turn back to the path of righteousness.
Can we hear the cry of God’s heart today? Can we hear Him calling to us? Can we hear Him speak through the voices of His servants? Can we hear the message “come and let us walk in the light of the LORD?” That message is as much for us today as it was for ancient Israel. We must heed the call; we must respond to His love; we must come to Him daily, surrendering our hearts to a Father who loves us, and walk in His light.
Yesterday is past, today is our opportunity. Let us respond to the voice of the Spirit of God and follow in the steps of Christ; let us walk in the light of the LORD.
