The scripture for today is John 9:4

John 9:4 I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.

Jesus, knowing that His time on earth was limited, made the proclamation that is our text today. About six months after this statement, Christ would go to the cross to die for our sin. His words are not just a statement of His need to do what God had sent Him to do. He also presents an example for each of us to emulate. Our time here is limited by either the return of Christ (I'm pulling for that one) or our natural deaths. The interim time available for us to do the work that God has assigned to us could be considered our "day." It is the time of opportunity, a time when we can work most effectively. When our "day" is past it will be too late to do what God has given us to do. "Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you go." Ecclesiastes 9:10

Jesus is our perfect example; if we emulate Him, we will follow the will of God correctly. Now is our time to work. Now is the time for us to do what God has called us to do. What has God called us to do? He has called us to be His witnesses wherever He may send us. Some He may send near and some He may send far, but everyone is sent somewhere. "Go you therefore into the highways, and as many as you shall find, bid to the marriage." Matthew 22:9 "Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19 So we have our mandate from God to go. From the local streets to all nations, God wants us to be an extension of Himself. God so loved the world that He gave all that He had; He poured out all of Himself to redeem us. We must allow Him to continue His work through us, extending the good news of His great gift of salvation to everyone. He has equipped everyone for a specific task. As we come to Him with surrendered hearts, He will direct us into the work He has for each of us. Even as we are facing a worldwide pandemic, God still has a job for us to do. It may take different means to do it but God will lead us in such a way that we can, in spite of circumstances, work while it is day for the night is coming when no man can work.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
