Luke 17_6
December 5
Happy Wednesday Everyone,
The scripture for today is Luke 17:6
Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
A mustard seed is a very small seed. With that much faith, the scripture is saying that we could do some pretty powerful things. But the Lord is not talking at all about the mustard seed amount of faith that you have, but the mustard seed quality of the faith that you have.
What are the qualities of mustard seed faith? Jesus, speaking in Matthew 13:31-32 said, "The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof."
So, mustard seed faith begins in our hearts as a very tiny seed. But that seed when planted, properly watered and nourished, will grow into something great and powerful. "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12:3 So we conclude that God gives us, every one of us, this seed of faith through which we come to Him in repentance and are born again. This tiny seed, if it stays connected to the source of its life, who is Jesus Christ, and is watered and nourished daily through prayer and the word of God, will grow into something great and powerful. There is a very strong tree inside of this little seed. And as this tiny seed of faith, which contains all of the attributes of God's power, is valued, nurtured and allowed expression, nothing will be impossible for us. It will grow into the very expression of the love and power of God. And Jesus said "...for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27
God bless you as you continue in His Service.
