Matthew 5:9
The scripture for today is Matthew 5:9
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
Children will typically bear the image of their parents. Usually, there are physical and behavioral qualities that identify members of family groups. Likewise, the characteristics existing in God will also be seen in those who are His offspring. Jesus, the Son of God, provides us a living example of what God in human form is like. He is the Prince of Peace, and those who have been born into His family bear the likeness of His character and follow in His steps; "He is our peace." Ephesians 2:14 The evidence of His abiding presence in our lives is that His peace is present. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you." John 14:27
"Christ's followers are sent to the world with the message of peace. Whoever, by the quiet, unconscious influence of a holy life, shall reveal the love of Christ; whoever, by word or deed, shall lead another to renounce sin and yield his heart to God, is a peacemaker.
And "blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." The spirit of peace is evidence of their connection with heaven. The sweet savor of Christ surrounds them. The fragrance of the life, the loveliness of the character, reveal to the world the fact that they are children of God. Men take knowledge of them that they have been with Jesus." We are not admonished to just be peaceable, but to be peacemakers. Being a peacemaker requires involvement, it requires courage, it requires a commitment to God. It is an expression of "God inside" mindedness. God inside of us will manifest Himself to the world around us. "There is no inward purity where there is not an endeavor after outward peace." William Burkitt
