The scripture for today is Matthew 8:14-15

Matthew 8:14-15 And when Jesus came into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever.  And He touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

From a single touch of the Savior’s hand flowed power to drive out sickness and disease. The proof of the divinity of Christ was shown throughout His ministry. Jesus healed everywhere He went. Often, He would go through areas and when He left, there was not a sick person left there because He healed them all.

When Jesus walked into Peter’s house, God walked in; the Holy Spirit walked in. All of the creative power of the Godhead was present there. All of the love and compassion of God was there; nothing more was required. Jesus, seeing the condition of the woman, knowing her heart and knowing her desire to serve, reached out and touched her hand. It seemed like a simple touch of sympathy, a touch that conveyed knowing, understanding, and care. But there was more in that touch than sympathy; the power of God was in His touch. When the power of God is conveyed, by faith, to the present need, the need must give way. As soon as Jesus touched her, the power of God was released into her body; sickness and disease could not remain there, healing had been released.

This dear woman was now free to do what her heart desired to do most; she ministered to the Savior and to those who were with Him. She had a heart for service and the enemy had prevented her from serving. But the touch of the Savior freed her from the bondage of the enemy’s grasp and “the fever left her.”

Will Jesus will do the same for us? “It is no secret what God can do, what He’s done for others, He will do for you.” Stuart Hamblen

If you have a heart for service and the enemy has you “bedridden” with the cares of this world, with sickness, with worry, with fear, reach out and take the Master’s hand. One touch in faith will bring the power of God into your situation and the touch of the Master will lose the bondage of the enemy. Jesus will set you free to serve Him.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
