The scripture for today is Philippians 2:5

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

The mind of Christ is explained in the verses that follow our text for today. “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not a thing to be grasped to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:6-8

The apostle is admonishing us, the church, to have the same humility and obedience that was in Christ. Jesus was always attentive to the needs of others. He lived His entire life in service to others. He gave continuously and finally, He gave the supreme gift, His life.  “For even the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

Every believer is instructed to have the same mind. Without such a mind our lives will not reflect the character of Christ to the world. Without such a mind, the world will see in us a people who profess something that they do not possess. Without Christ in us manifesting Himself to the world, we have nothing to offer but lifeless words and doctrines.

It is through humble service that the love of God is shared with those around us, and it is through such service that the world sees Christ living in us. Without the mind of Christ, we cannot do the works of Christ. And if we do not do the works of Christ, the world will not see Christ in us no matter how right we think we are. The world needs to see Jesus and He will be seen through those who, like Him, give their lives in service to others.

“Christ labored to promote no separate interest; as man he studied to promote the glory of God, and the welfare and salvation of the human race. See then that ye have the same disposition that was in Jesus: He was ever humble, loving, patient, and laborious; His meat and drink was to do the will of His Father and to finish His work.” Adam Clarke

God bless you as you continue in His service.
