December 19
Happy Wednesday Everyone,

The scripture for today is Philippians 4:8

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

God has given us clear and specific directions to govern our thought life. To always follow those directions presents challenges that must be overcome. It is impossible to control the thought life by the force of the will. Actually, the will is powerless against sin "...for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not." Romans 7:18 It is only through surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ, that anyone can do the things God directs us to do in His Word. He must live within us in order for us to experience victory over the opposition of the flesh. Surrender is not a one-time event. It is achieved through a moment by moment relationship with Christ that requests in all situations and levels of thought, "not my will, but thy will be done." God will honor such a request when it comes from a sincere heart.

When surrender to Christ is the foundation of our thought life, our outlook on life will be shaped in a Godlike fashion as we allow our lives to be directed by the Spirit of God. Since valued thoughts eventually become actions, we will also express in our behavior the light of the Kingdom of God.  That is what God ultimately wants us to do. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

God bless you as you continue in His service.
