Proverbs 12:3
The scripture for today is Proverbs 12:3
Proverbs 12:3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
From the Garden of Eden onward, mankind has pursued fulfillment apart from commitment to God and His Word. Satan is always the instigator of those pursuits and that kind of thinking. In the absence of the righteousness of God man has redefined success. That definition focuses on the external accumulation of things, position, power and even looks. It is only a facade and temporary at best. Position, wealth, and power are highly esteemed and considered by most to be accurate measures of stability and worth. As a result, human beings go to extreme lengths and various forms of wickedness to achieve these measures of success.
God's measures of success are quite different. He does not measure our worth based on externalities. You can be accepted by Him irrespective of the size of your bank account, the number of people who are subordinate to you, how good or bad you look or the power you wield. The true measure of success is found in the righteousness of God. Those who have become righteous (successful and established) are planted firmly in Jesus Christ, who has been made righteousness for us. "But of Him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." 1 Corinthians 1:30 When we are established in His righteousness, the transitory things of this world hold no attraction for us. We are in Christ and we shall not be moved.
"Evil is always variable: it has no fixed principle, except the root that is in the human heart; and even that is ever assuming new forms. Nothing is permanent but goodness; and that is unchangeable, because it comes from God." Adam Clarke
God bless you as you continue in His service.
