Proverbs 13:11
The scripture for today is Proverbs 13:11
Proverbs 13:11 Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.
Those who are deceived by the “deceitfulness of riches,” Mark 4:19, are easily drawn into the snare of the devil. The calling card of the world is “easy money.” The enemy of our souls will always present us with ways to circumvent the path presented by God’s word.
The road to true success is not an easy road, but it is a sure road, and the diligent in heart will find that God will prosper the journey. Those who look for the easy way are led into deception. That which is gained by vain and dishonest means is not blessed; it is cursed, and consequently, it will soon fade away. The hard-working person who depends upon God and is willing to be industrious and honest in their dealings with others will reap the benefits of their labor.
Wealth that is gained without the expenditure of personal effort or through dishonest means will not last. The lust of the flesh takes over, and the person so inclined will eventually risk what they have trying to acquire more through vanity and deceit; they find ruin in the end. “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.” Ephesians 4:28
When a person earns money through hard work and prudent industry, it is received as a gift from God who gives us the ability to generate income and sustain life. Such a person will be careful in how they spend what they have labored to earn, and over time will have more than enough so that they will be able to assist others also.
Money is not evil; it is the love of money that is a root of all kinds of evil. The righteous do not have the love of money as their motivation in anything. The motivation of the righteous is the love of God. The whole earth belongs to Him; all of the silver and gold, and everything of value is His. He created it. The child of God has love for His Creator; when we have Him we have everything.
As long as we follow God’s way, our lives will be blessed. Our lives are not measured in what we have, but in who we are. We are:
Born again
Spirit filled
God fearing
Bible believing
Jesus loving
Commandment keeping
Children of the Most High God
God bless you as you continue in His service.
