The scripture for today is Proverbs 20:6

Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?

It is common in the world to hear self-promoting speeches proclaiming the goodness and superior qualities of individuals. Those, who make such proclamations want to be seen, in contrast to others, as better. But "They who make the largest professions of goodness and love, are in general the least worthy of confidence in any work that requires patient and self-denying toil." Family Bible Notes Sadly the qualities that the world promotes and gravitates to are not the qualities that God values. Promoting "self" is incompatible with living for God. Self-centeredness is the opposite of what God calls His people to be. He does not work through the power of human flesh, nor is He in need of “fleshly assistance” to accomplish His will. God desires a people who are faithful; faithful to Him even at the expense of their own reputation. God's faithful children are not self-promoters; they submit to the will of God and are focused on the needs of others.

Jesus gave us the great example of faithfulness. He said: "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me." John 6:38 There was no self-promotion in His lifestyle but rather Godly humility. He divested Himself of His Heavenly prestige and came to earth as a servant and submitted Himself to both God and man. Imagine the Son of God submitting Himself to mere mortals. "And He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but His mother kept all these sayings in her heart." Luke 2:51 Was Christ faithful? He was the most faithful man who ever walked on earth. He is our example. To exalt self is the spirit of Satan, to exalt Christ is the Spirit of God, for God has highly exalted Him for His faithfulness. He will also exalt us with Christ as we remain in Him; faithful to the end.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
