The scripture for today is Proverbs 25:11

Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

Words are among the most powerful things that exist for they release the forces by which things are created.  Through words, lives can be permanently altered. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 Jesus said, “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Matthew 12:37 The words we speak can have eternal consequences.

Mankind was created with the ability to speak to enable us to commune with God and with one another. God, by virtue of being the creator, is the central theme in all of our communications. Regardless of the subject, God is always the exalted one in our thinking and speaking. The foundation of all that we say should be to honor God and reflect of His character.

To a friend who is in pain, words can bring healing to their troubled mind. Words can soothe a soul that is in distress; they can be more precious than any material gift. When offered in a time of need, a “fitly spoken” word is more precious than gold. The mandate for God’s people is to use our words to bring comfort, healing and compassion. Jesus is our example; through Him, we can offer words of life. It is a precious gift.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
