December 8

Happy Sabbath Everyone,

The scripture for today is Psalms 125:1-2

Psalms 125:1-2 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about His people from henceforth even forever.

To trust in the Lord, from a scriptural point of view, has the connotation that He alone is our place of refuge. We therefore seek this place and abandon everything else to live and abide there. We put all of our eggs, as it were, in His basket. We have no plan B. We do not put our trust in the things of this world; we trust in Him and Him alone. World and human conditions are constantly changing, but God remains the same forever. He is the only stable foundation and those who are His can rest in knowing that, irrespective of changing and volatile world conditions, He has promised in His Word "I will never leave you or forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

Today, as never before, faith in God is challenged at every level. Even in the church those who seek unconditional adherence to the Word of God are not viewed favorably. Compromise is the norm and sincere love and obedience to God is deemed old fashioned. But God never changes; His word is eternal, and what He requires of us is simple faith and trust in Him. He surrounds those who are faithful with His "mountains" of strength and power. For those who place their trust in the Lord, His strength will be their support. He only requires that we surrender to Him from our hearts and make Him alone our place of refuge. In Him is the only safe place to be.

God bless you as you continue in His service.

Tim
