November 1

Happy Thursday Everyone,

The scripture for today is Psalms 19:14

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

The things that our hearts cherish and the words that we speak come from the nature that controls us. In Christ Jesus we have been changed into new creations. We are no longer ruled by the carnal nature of the flesh, but we have surrendered our lives to God. It is His Spirit that lives within us and it is from the new nature of Christ likeness that our lives are governed. No longer do we spend our days in vain imaginations or utter from our lips words of contempt, selfishness, fear and hatred. We have the mind of Christ and, as we surrender to His presence in our lives, our very thoughts and words reflect His indwelling Spirit.

In the Old Testament sacrificial system, in order for a sacrifice to be acceptable to God, it had to be perfect. Nothing with a blemish of any kind was to be offered to God as God would not accept anything that had a defect. The psalmist, who was living in this system, knew full well what he was asking in terms of what came out of his mouth and what he pondered in his heart. He wanted them to be perfect and without blemish, acceptable in the sight of God. He also recognized where that perfection was coming from..."O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."

We have access to God through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our Lord, our strength and our Redeemer.  We too can make the same petition to our Father in heaven, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight" and through the perfection of the sacrifice of Christ, God hears our prayer and grants our petition. Our love for Him requests it and His love for us provides it.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
