The scripture for today is Psalms 34:1

Psalms 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

An ongoing expression of faith comes from the heart that continuously blesses the Lord. God receives honor when His children praise Him. Blessing the Lord is not just an expression in words, although that is an important aspect of praise. Blessing the Lord equates to the total surrender of the heart to God in obedience which leads to the overflow of the joy of the Lord in the midst of even troubling circumstances. The joy of the Lord brings strength to the child of God and out of the joy that He gives, praise rises from the soul. This is not an occasional experience; it is a life that we live. It is as normal as breathing to the child of God. A life without praise is a life without sunshine; it would be dark and dreary indeed.  

God has proven His faithfulness to us by rescuing us when we were lost in sin and in distress. The presence of praise indicates our awareness of the presence and power of God's love. Irrespective of what is going on around us, God, who lives within our hearts, enables us to lift our voices to heaven in praise to Him for the victory that has already been won in Christ Jesus. His very presence is the solution for all that we need. To all who are broken-hearted, afflicted and contrite God reaches out His hands of love. Everyone who calls upon Him will receive exactly what He knows they need. He will never forsake a broken and contrite heart and He will never abandon one of His own; God will deliver them. No one who puts their trust in Him will be left desolate. Our faith is tested during times of lack, privation, and persecution. When our faith is tested, we will bless the Lord. When we seem to not have enough to meet our needs, we will bless the Lord. When the world casts us out as evil and says all manner of things against us, we will bless the Lord. We are not moved by what we see; we are not moved by what we feel; we are moved by the Word and unchangeable character of God. It is our distinct privilege to bless Him at all times.
