Psalms 62_11-12
November 18
Happy Sunday Everyone,
The scripture for today is Psalms 62:11-12
Psalms 62:11-12 God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God. Also to You, O God, belongs mercy; for You give to every man according to his work.
All power belongs to God. He is the ultimate source of all things created. The greatest power that He demonstrates or gives to us is not the explosive power of the sun, stars or other natural phenomenon. The greatest power that He demonstrates and gives is life. The power of life is the power of God. Life has no other source and it cannot be replicated by anyone or anything. The objective of the enemy (Satan) is to destroy life, in a vain attempt to destroy the power of God. So, while God gives life, the enemy brings death, or the absence of life. Fortunately, God's power is greater than death. He demonstrated this awesome power in our Lord Jesus Christ. "And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead..." Ephesians 1:19-20
Not only is God all powerful, He is also all merciful. We can be assured that He will never falsely accuse anyone, nor render unjust judgment. He will reward everyone according to His mercy and according to what they have done. The mercy of God regulates the power of God; they work hand in hand. Were it not for God's mercy, His lovingkindness, no one in the world would be saved. We have all sinned and as such deserve to receive the penalty for sin. But God chose to take that penalty upon Himself because His love and mercy required it. We did not deserve it, but God did not give us what we deserved, He gave us what His love and mercy demanded. Sin has been judged and Jesus has paid the penalty for all mankind. He gave His infinite life in payment for the sin of the world. Those who accept His sacrifice as payment for their sin are free from sin's penalty, but those who reject His sacrifice must one day pay the penalty themselves. Choosing Christ is not only the reasonable thing the do, it is the best decision that any person can make. It is far better to receive the reward of righteousness based on the works of Christ than to be a debtor to sin. Christ Jesus is the only intelligent choice; receive Him and to cling to Him; He is the only true light.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
