Romans 6_14
October 27
Happy Sabbath Everyone,
The scripture for today is Romans 6:14
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
A Biblical definition of sin is "sin is the transgression of the law”. 1John 3:4 The good news for everyone is that Christ lived a sinless life and has paid the penalty of sin for all mankind. No one has to live under the law of sin and the penalty of sin any longer. God's grace, which we did not earn nor deserve, has been extended to every human being through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Because of that sacrifice and the extending of God's grace to the world, the stranglehold of sin has been broken over the lives of all who accept His sacrifice as their own. Those who receive new life in Christ Jesus are no longer under the wrath of the law, but rather under the grace of God. Consequently, the only people who are able to live out the righteous requirements of the law are those who are free from its wrath.
Some think that not being under the law means that they are now free to break the law. If that were true, then being under grace would mean that we have a license to sin for sin is transgressing the law. Is this what the Bible teaches? "God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer in it?” Romans 6:2. Those who are truly living under grace are the most law abiding citizens of heaven on this earth because sin (law transgressing) does not have dominion over those who are under grace. Those who claim to be living under grace while trampling on God's moral law are living a delusion. Grace is not a license to sin; His grace frees us from sin. God's grace is overcoming grace; it is empowering grace; it is liberating grace. It is a spiritual force that destroys the bondage of sin. Thank God that He has set us free from sin and its penalty through His amazing grace.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
