November 26

Happy Monday Everyone,

The scripture for today is Romans 8:14-15

Romans 8:14-15 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Holy Spirit, who is at once, both the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9) is also our heavenly guide. He leads the children of God according to the word of God (Psalms 119:105).  No one who is led by the Holy Spirit will be led into disobedience to God's word; it is just not possible. As many as are led by the Holy Spirit are God's very own children. As God's children, we are free from the bondage of fear. The Holy Spirit and the spirit of fear are mutually exclusive. Fear comes from the enemy of our souls. It is debilitating and crippling. Even a little fear can disrupt productive thought and behavior. It can alter our perception of reality and direct us away from God's will for our lives.

The Spirit of God is first and foremost the Spirit of love. If we are in bondage to fear we are experiencing something foreign to the love of God. We have been adopted into God's royal family as His very own children by the Holy Spirit that lives within us. He imparts His love into our hearts and directs our thoughts heavenward. He enables us to look into the heart of God revealed in His Word, and reverently cry out to Him, Abba, Father. Jesus used these words, Abba Father, when praying to God in Mark 14:36. As adopted children, we have the right to enjoy the same relationship with the Father as His own Son did. In fact, that is why Christ died on the cross for us. He did not die so that we could be slaves to fear, He died so that we could be redeemed and become "joint heirs" with Christ (Romans 8:17). Jesus, our Lord, has already secured for us a life of freedom from the burden of sin and fear. That life can be ours now! To live any other life would deny His great sacrifice. We can choose to live the new life that He gives us, life in the Spirit, life as children of God. As we surrender control of our lives to Him, He lives His overcoming life through us and it just doesn't get any better than that.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
