The scripture for today is Titus 3:5-6

Titus 3:5-6 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; Whom He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Before God created man, He knew that we would fall. But rather than abort creation, and have no fellowship with mankind, God devised a plan of salvation before the world began. That plan was not based on our own good works but upon God Himself. He became the guarantee for man's salvation. As He created man, His love and mercy were waiting to be lavished upon them and redeem them from their failings. His plan was not based on the works of man but on the works of God. If we could have been saved by our own works, there would have been no need for the sacrifice of the “Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8

Our work is to accept, believe, and surrender to His work on our behalf. As we do, we receive the eternal benefit of what He has done for us. What great love He has bestowed upon us, extending mercy instead of giving us what our transgressions deserve. The only basis for approaching God is the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“When Satan tells you that you are a sinner, and cannot hope to receive blessing from God, tell him that Christ came into the world to save sinners. We have nothing to recommend us to God; but the plea that we may urge now and ever is our utterly helpless condition that makes His redeeming power a necessity. Renouncing all self-dependence, we may look to the cross of Calvary and say, ‘In my hand no price I bring; Simply to Thy cross I cling.’” Ellen White, The Desire of Ages, p317

God bless you as you continue in His service.
